Registration of food for special medical purposes (FSMP)

Food business operators must notify the Swedish Food Agency (Livsmedelsverket) of food for special medical purposes (FSMP) in order to place such foods on the Swedish market. It is appropriate that the notification is submitted by the company in Sweden that manufactures, distributes, imports the food from a third country, or brings the food in from other EU Member States, as the purpose of the notification is to inform the relevant Swedish control authorities. The local control authority is then responsible for carrying out inspections of the company placing the product on the market.
